<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">Mexico is the center of origin and diversity of native corn, and its cultivation is due to its importance as a staple food for its population. The arrival of genetically modified corn threatens food sovereignty, as the problem with GMOs in Mexico is not only their use in food, but also the risk of contamination of native corn. Although genetically modified corn is not commercially cultivated in Mexico, its presence is controversial. This study was conducted to evaluate the persistence of transgenic DNA segments during and after critical stages in the processing of traditional foods such as pinole, tamales, tortillas, fritters, and porridge. These foods with transgenic corn was made, and critical conditions such as temperature and pH changes were identified throughout their production. From these stages, DNA was extracted, purified, and amplified with primers specific to the Cry1Ab and CaMV 35S transgenic events to determine their persistence after undergoing highly critical conditions. As a result, PCR detected segments of transgenic events in traditional foods under the different critical conditions. A 184-base-pair band corresponding to the Cry1Ab gene in some of these foods were amplified. It is concluded that the critical temperature and pH conditions during the processing of traditional foods do not affect the transgenic DNA sequences, meaning their persistence is maintained.</dc:description>

The objective of this study was to identify populations resistant to water deficit. Six native populations and two hybrids were evaluated as controls under irrigated and water deficit conditions in a completely randomized experimental design. The following variables were evaluated: relative chlorophyll index, nitrate content, relative water content, and saturation deficit. The VPL-Original Compound and Tuxpeño-Palmillas genotypes showed resistance to water stress. In terms of nitrate content, the populations showed greater accumulation under water deficit conditions, except for the Tuxpeño-Palmillas genotype. The relative chlorophyll index of the Nal-Tel × Ratón, Colecta 16, VPL-original compound, VPL-derived from CO, and Tuxpeño-Palmillas genotypes accumulated higher chlorophyll concentrations under water deficit. Significant differences were found in relative water content, water deficit, and nitrate content, confirming the ability of native populations to withstand water deficit conditions.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">: Precision agriculture is a key strategy to address the effects of climate change, water scarcity, and the need to sustainably increase agricultural productivity. In this context, the development of intelligent systems is no longer a secondary issue, as it integrates sensors, IoT platforms, embedded systems, and automation techniques for the precise control of climatic and soil variables in greenhouses and covered structures. This review article evaluates studies published in the last five years using the TAK method (title, abstract, keywords), addressing the application of these technologies in protected agriculture environments. Their uses in soil moisture monitoring, climate control, irrigation management, and the implementation of plastic coverings are analyzed. In addition, the communication architecture employed, energy efficiency, cost, and scalability of the proposed solutions are examined. Finally, challenges such as interoperability, technological accessibility for small producers, and the need for standardization are identified, outlining future research directions toward a smarter, more resilient, and inclusive agriculture.</dc:description>

The objective of the study was to evaluate forage yield and the morphological composition of sorghum and pearl millet genotypes under warm sub-humid conditions. The experiment was conducted under rainfed conditions with supplemental irrigation, evaluating 12 sorghum genotypes and one pearl millet genotype. Plant height and green matter yield (TGM) and dry matter (TDM) yield were measured, as well as the proportions of leaf, stem, panicle, and dead material. The statistical analysis was performed using a randomized complete block design with four replications (Tukey; α=0.05). Genotypes 197-1 and 197-1-1 recorded the greatest heights (≈ 295 cm) and the highest TGM (63.9–67.6 t ha-1) and TDM (13.9–15.3 t ha-1) yields, with a dominance of stem (>55 %). In contrast, pearl millet and Procónsul showed the lowest heights (142-148 cm) and the lowest yields (10.3-19.8 t ha-1 of TGM; 2.5-5.4 t ha-1 of TDM), traits commonly observed in reduced-height and dual-purpose materials. Genotypes such as Fortuna and 195-2 showed a more balanced composition, with a higher proportion of leaf (≈36-38 %) and panicle (≈23-30 %), suggesting greater quality potential. The results indicate that tall genotypes are suitable for maximizing forage production, whereas those with a greater proportion of leaf and panicle are better suited to systems in which nutritive quality is prioritized.</dc:description>

The objective of this research was to evaluate different adjuvants as herbicide enhancers for weed control in lemon cultivation. The research was conducted in August 2024 in a plot established at
INIFAP-CEIGUA. The experimental design included the evaluation of weeds with a height between 10 cm and 20 cm. In total, 30 different treatments were applied with four replicates. The experimental unit measured 4 × 5 m. The experimental design was a randomised complete block design. The main weeds were Johnson grass and star grass. The established scale proposed by the EWRS was used to measure the effectiveness and impact of the treatments on the weeds. The results were evaluated as percentages, and an analysis of variance and a mean comparison test (Tukey, α = 0.05) were performed using SAS version 9.4. The herbicides that stood out in this study were those made from a mixture of surfactants, organic and inorganic acidifiers, fulvic acids, potentiators, diluents, and related elements, as well as those formulated with vegetable oil and polyalkylene oxide siloxane. The treatments that showed the greatest weed control effect when using the 50% dose plus the herbicides were those using glyphosate, glufosinate ammonium, and the bioherbicides BH2, BH3, and BH2 + BH3.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">In Güemez, Tamaulipas, Mexico, intensive and prolonged citrus monoculture has consolidated the region as a key global producing area, exerting increasing pressure on soil quality. This study aimed to evaluate the physicochemical properties of soil in Valencia orange orchards located in Güemez. Simple random sampling was conducted in 15 orange orchards, and parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity, exchangeable sodium, organic matter, cations, carbonates, available nutrients, and texture were analyzed, in accordance with NOM-021-RECNAT-2000. Furthermore, estimated crop age and soil properties were correlated using a Pearson correlation analysis (p<0.05). The results showed slightly basic soils, low levels of soluble salts, and a high sodium-calcium ratio at one of the sites. High levels of phosphorus and carbonates were identified, as well as a significant decrease in organic matter, nitrogen, and carbonates with increasing crop age. These findings suggest that crop age can be an indicator of progressive soil deterioration and highlight the need to adjust agronomic management in established plantations to preserve long-term fertility and productivity.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">Accurate wind speed prediction is important for optimizing wind energy generation, as it improves power supply planning and the maintenance of wind turbines. This paper proposes a hybrid model that integrates the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) with LSTM neural networks for short-term forecasting. A time series of wind speed data from Nizanda, Oaxaca, was used, applying the Daubechies 4 (db4) wavelet to decompose the signal into approximation and detail components. Multiple partial reconstruction configurations were evaluated to filter noise and highlight relevant patterns. Experimental results demonstrate that selective reconstruction using the approximation and the first two levels of detail outperforms the base model, which consists of an LSTM with raw wind speed data without the wavelet transformation, but also traditional reference models (persistence, ARIMA, SARIMA). This configuration achieved an R² of 0.934 and an RMSE of 0.979 on the test set.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">Petrobia (Tetranychina) harti Ewing (Acari: Tetranychinae) is commonly known as the oxalis spider mite, as its primary hosts belong to the genus Oxalis, although it is also found in agricultural crops. In Mexico, this mite is not considered an agricultural pest, but it is in other countries. The damage caused by P. harti feeding reduces plant growth. However, little is known about its biological and demographic parameters. The objective of this study was to determine the life table parameters of P. harti on O. corniculata leaves under laboratory conditions. P. harti successfully completed its development on O. corniculata. The survival curve indicated that the risk of female death increases with age. Female fecundity and longevity were 10.33 eggs/female and 15.95 days, respectively. This resulted in an intrinsic growth rate (rm) of 0.2167. These results expand knowledge about the biological and demographic aspects of P. harti in O. corniculata.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">This study focuses on identifying the natural predators of aphids as a crucial component of the biological control of this pest in sorghum crops. The role of these aphidophagous insects lies in their ability to regulate aphid populations. They are used as biological control agents in integrated pest management programs to reduce the need for agrochemicals and minimize environmental impact, thus contributing to the sustainability and profitability of agricultural production. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence of aphids (Aphididae) and their predators on the phenological development of sorghum varieties, Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench, in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Therefore, using specialized taxonomic keys, the species collected during the sorghum crop development stages were identified. The aphid species (Hemiptera: Aphididae) Melanaphis sorghi and Schizaphis graminum were the most frequently identified, along with aphidophagous insects such as Cycloneda sanguinea, Hippodamia convergens, Zelus sp., Allograpta sp., Scymnus sp., and Chrysoperla sp. Based on the literature reviewed, it was concluded that several of the identified aphidophagous insect species are used in other regions as biological control agents for aphid population regulation. It was also observed that aphids showed a preference for DKS60 in 2023 and for the "Gobernador" hybrid in 2024.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">Soybean (Glycine max L.) represents a relevant forage alternative in tropical systems due to its high biomass production and protein content; however, its performance varies depending on the production system. The objective of this study was to evaluate the forage potential of soybean Huasteca 200 under monoculture and agroforestry systems with Guazuma ulmifolia and Tabebuia rosea. The experiment was conducted under rainfed conditions, comparing three production systems. Plant height, total green matter yield (TGMY), total dry matter yield (TDMY), yields by morphological components (leaf, stem, and pod), their proportions, and nutritive quality (crude protein and crude fiber) were measured. Statistical analysis was performed using a randomized complete block design, complemented by principal component analysis. Monoculture recorded the highest TGMY (23.73 t ha-1) and TDMY (6.95 t ha-1), outperforming agroforestry systems, where biomass reductions of up to 62 % were observed. However, the association with G. ulmifolia showed the highest crude protein content (164 g kg-1) and leaf proportion (68 %), indicating improved nutritive value. The T. rosea system showed lower values for both yield and quality. Multivariate analysis revealed a trade-off between forage quantity and quality. In conclusion, monoculture maximizes biomass production, while association with G. ulmifolia improves nutritive quality, suggesting its potential in agroforestry systems.</dc:description>

<dc:description xml:lang="en-US">The conservation of agricultural soil in the face of intensive agriculture sustained by the extensive use of synthetic nitrogen fertilizers, population growth, and accelerating climate change, among other factors, emerges as a form of resilience that requires strategies for its use, as well as inputs with less impact on the soil microbiota, since its health largely depends on it. Biofertilizers contribute to the fertility, biological activity, and resilience of agricultural soil and are considered an agroecological option for achieving global food security. This review was conducted using a narrative bibliographic approach, employing scientific databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, and incorporating peer-reviewed articles in Spanish and English published between 2015 and 2026. The search used keywords on biofertilizers and soil resilience, applying Boolean operators. Peer-reviewed scientific evidence was prioritized to identify and synthesize the available knowledge on the contribution of biofertilizers to the resilience of agricultural soils. The information obtained highlights that, unlike synthetic fertilizers, biofertilizers maintain and restore soil quality through their agronomic and ecological functions, simultaneously reducing the risks of soil and water contamination associated with the intensive use of chemical inputs. Their integration into crop production, along with reduced doses of mineral fertilizers, shows high potential for contributing to the gradual availability of nutrients and improving soil biota. The integration of biofertilizers into agri-food production systems has been validated and proposed as a soil management model to mitigate current and emerging challenges in the agricultural sector.</dc:description>
